The beatification of the late Pope John Paul II this May is a clear sign that the Catholic Church has not understood (or wanted to ignore) the seriousness of sexual abuse by priests against children worldwide. Beatification of John Paul II is to disqualify and to minimize the victims of pedophile priests during the last pontificate.
The beatification of Karol Wojtyla came very quickly and without a thorough investigation, only six years after of his death and after the French nun Marie Simon Pierre, ensure that inexplicably cured of Parkinson's evil after praying to the previous pope.
is completely arbitrary to attribute a miracle to John Paul II after his death and no scientific evidence demonstrating their direct involvement in the healing of the nun. That is so absurd as to blame the alleged miracle Pele or Elvis Presley.
believe in miracles and other inventions is a matter of faith. But the trouble is that the Catholic Church wants to become blessed (and later saint) a man of flesh and bone who was leader of the Vatican during one of the worst sex scandals and human rights violation of any pontificate.
We're not talking one or two victims. We are talking about thousands of victims around the world. This means that within the Vatican there was a systematic policy that ignored, covered up and protected the criminal priests and rejected, stigmatized and blamed his sexual victims, mostly children and minors.
The argument that Karol Wojtyla was not aware of anything is untenable. It is impossible to believe that during his papacy, from 1978 to 2005, he was oblivious to the many allegations against its priests. Here are some examples.
Pope John Paul II was to protect the criminal Marcial Maciel, founder of the Legionaries of Christ. Sexual abuse and rape by Maciel are documented and forced the current Pope, Benedict XVI, to separate it from any official role. The true place of Maciel was the jail. But John Paul II chose him to his victims and never, even chastised him.
I've heard the argument that the beatification of John Paul II goes beyond the Maciel case. But why? Does the pope did not protect a criminal violation?
That John Paul II has contributed to the fall of communist regimes in Eastern Europe, to seek a rapprochement with Jews and Muslims, and has traveled most of the planet does not exempt by protect and cover up for sexual abusers of minors. If the pope knew about these abuses, as many of its proponents suggest, then a leader was negligent and apathetic that did not meet its responsibilities to monitor and care for the weakest. And if I knew then was an accomplice of his crimes.
There are many cases that it is unthinkable that John Paul II has not been notified. Did not hear about the 413 children who were physically and sexually abused in 26 schools and reformatories Catholics in Ireland? (You can read the report in www.childabusecommission.com)
not "learned that the American priest had been Lawrence Murphy accused of molesting some 200 children who are deaf? The complete investigation was published by The New York Times. (To see http://nyti.ms/cz2uJ6) Despite this, Murphy was transferred from diocese and died far from a prison.
The Diocese of Los Angeles has paid at least $ 660 million to close 508 cases of sexual abuse by priests. You never knew anything about this John Paul II?
More than Blessed John Paul II should be named the worst Pope reported the story. It is possible that this occurred during his papacy and he was not aware.
neglect of his papacy against sexual abuse victims is shameful.
only out of respect for the thousands of victims of sexual abuse, the current pope Joseph Ratzinger and the Vatican should have halted the beatification of John Paul II. But the most serious of all, it was the responsibility of the Ratzinger-who was in charge of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith from 1981 to 2005 - to investigate cases of sexual abuse and rape who came to the Vatican under Pope Wojtyla . Blaming
John Paul II would then recognize their own incompetence and responsibility in these crimes. That is not going to make Benedict XVI. Now, however, his old boss beatified.
This, then, the typical case that protects a cassock another.
